🛋️ The Design-Led Approach to Everyday Objects
When I look around my room, I see white charging cords hanging off the side of my desk and a bulky sound machine tucked under my bed (to hide its appearance). Even in the most carefully curated living spaces, everyday objects tend to stick out like sore thumbs with their generic, industry-standard appearances. I thought this was the norm until I met Emma Chozick (Founder) and Charlotte Coons (Strategist) at gr8 collab. By observing Emma and Charlotte’s work, I’ve learned that basic, everyday objects don’t have to disrupt your space. and Rocco, Cliik, and Counterpart are three brands within gr8 collab’s portfolio that prove just that.

👜 Transforming Reusable Bags: From Pocket to Practical
With more and more states placing bans on plastic bags, it’s becoming increasingly common to bring your own bag(s) to the grocery store, especially in major cities like NYC or LA. Although Trader Joe’s has been selling reusable bags for decades (since 1977, to be exact), the on-the-go consumer may not always have their full-size reusable bags on hand—especially city dwellers. This much-needed movement away from single-use plastics has led to a rise of brands such as Baggu and Keote, offering selections of pocket-sized, stylish, yet functional reusable bags.

👄 Trend or Truth: Is Mouth Taping Really Good for You?
Spate, a consumer trend platform, reported mouth taping as one of the 10 fastest-growing wellness trends of 2024. Influencers incorporating mouth tape into their nightly routines boast its benefits of a deeper sleep, fresher breath, and a snatched jawline. In a recent Vogue article, Joseph Carrillo, a New York-based facial sculpting expert, equated mouth taping to pilates for your face. As more and more consumers incorporate mouth tape into their routines, brands such as The Skinny Confidential, Dryft, Dream Recovery, and oi tape, are regaining traction. Although the consensus is mixed on the systemic health benefits of mouth taping, there are clear benefits from both an oral-health and cosmetic standpoint.
